Symptoms

What tells you your horse has a problem

 

A few signs/symptoms include:

 

  • Tail flicking or laying ears down
  • Pain or discomfort on brushing or touching
  • Girthing pain or pain under saddle
  • Muscle wasting especially over saddle area
  • Change in behavior or attitude towards work
  • Lameness either fore limb or rear limb
  • Bucking or pig-rooting
  • Tying up
  • Coat changes over specific areas
  • Lack of coordination of gait
  • Rope walking or plaiting
  • Loss of performance
  • Changes in posture i.e. high or low head carriage
  • Shortness in stride or step
  • Foot problems e.g. joint and ligament injuries
